How much of a person do you know by reading his blog?
Sunday, February 26, 2006

I've been reading someone's.. (secretly) And day by day I think this nut can be cracked but I just don't have the right tools to do it.

Whatever.
The question is... [above]

So.. Who am I?
(You know? Stopping to think.. I don't know as well. No interests.. no likes.. no dislikes.. eww didn't know I was so boring. Maybe you tell me? Thru MSN or something)

Anyway I just watched NTU Hall 5 play today to support Ravern. Met up with a few Armour buddies.. shall compare the 2 plays, Sheares Production and Quintsical Productions (as they call themselves) next entry. Impressive in their own ways.

But for now.. to hit the bed. Tuition tomorrow.

Sucumbing to closed doors
Friday, February 24, 2006

For once in a very long while.. I adopted a closed door policy.

The privacy's really endearing.. to be shut off from the outside world.. could concentrate (a bit) more on studying.. no wonder.. no wonder..

I brief look from the balcony and I saw many many rooms with their lights on and doors closed.. a short walk down to level 7 and level 6 and saw only about 2 doors open.

That's my report card.

Anyway I'm no longer angry. Not worth it. But the entry will be there to remind me of the very rare times that I actually lose my temper. =)

FUCKING BITCHES
Wednesday, February 22, 2006

~deeBlockers!!~:chio:~ BLOCK OUTING Weds 1800 PASIR PANJANG FOOD CENTRE ~slurpz~

Went around jiooing people at 6pm.. As usual I had the same few lousy excuses..
"Don't want. Sleeping."
"Got project to do."
"Haven't finish my assignment."
"Going out."
"Bad mood."
All toleratable.

BUT HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF YOU WERE ME AT THE LEVEL 5 KITCHEN SEEING THE GIRLS BLATENTLY
COOKING DINNER
ON THE DAY OF THE BLOCK OUTING?

I WAS FURIOUS.

YOU GIRLS ARE FUCKING SELFISH SELF-CENTERED BITCHES.

To think I told Jeannie to order gas for you all.

Betrayed and unappreciated.

This is MY blog. If you are not happy reading this shut the fuck up and close the window.

Mid-Termed Monday
Tuesday, February 21, 2006

My father dug out a spare laptop from his office to aid me in this computer-void-crisis.. and I'm using it now.. Haha a Dell Inspiron 700m.. quite sleek, light and stylish.. but there's just 1 problem.. I HATE SMALL LAPTOPS!! I've trouble typing this post even now.. and I have to bend down just to squint at the screen so I brought it to my bed and type the post.. But still.. my father rocks!

Yanru's back from the states for 2 weeks and I went out with her just now.. just had simple coffee at Wang Jiao and talked about er.. dunno what we talked abt also.. haha so much for being best friends for freaking 12 years (since we were 11 years old whoaa). But somehow she still refuses to take my fashion advice that curly (hair) is ugly. Haa..

Was just stoning by the balcony outside my room.. and was telling Gabe something was missing out here. Something missing from my life at that very moment.. something not in place now..
I had nothing to think about.
Those were the days when I used to stand at that very spot thinking of all sorts of things.. xy.. Block Comm.. Friends.. Studies.. all of which I seemed to have relinquished my hold over.. stuff which I've learnt to take into my stride and let go if I have to.. I have fewer worries.. my mind feels lighter.. which makes me feel wrong. Prob something I'm not used to.
Maybe it's also because I'm too free. I've not been involved in some major activity for so long. Maybe that's why my life's void of events. Which isn't a bad thing.. coz it means I should have more time for my studies.. hah.. and obviously studying isn't very high up on my very short agenda list..
..yet.

1st day of mid-terms over.. was very sure I wasted it away.. haha. Going NJC for some ERC visit tomorrow.. hope i have the determination to buy back my time when I get back.

Chaoz~

Eventful fortnight
Monday, February 20, 2006

Wow wow wow! Seems like it's millions of years since someone saw an update on this blog yea? Can't really say I'm terribly busy though.. coz I'm really just slacking away most of the time.. no blogging coz of the inconvenience of no laptop.. and partly want to keep that chingay post as long as ever.. and mostly.. just so simply lazy. But the past few weeks have been rather full of events.. well not so.. but few blogworthy events so read on! (in reverse chronological order)

NUS Biathlon 2006
8.15 [Seah Im Food Court]
There were runners in all sorts of running attire.. lean and mean.. they looked like they could sprint off anytime.. no doubt they were experienced runners.. boy did I feel intimidated...

8.30 [Sentosa Arrival Centre]
Gotta dig at DnD again for losing my Islander card... made Weijie pay for my entry (go collect from DnD yourself hor). Saw more runners hovering around.. while wj pointed out to me a NUS IVP biathlete.. as I munched my da-paoed roti-prata
"你应该半个小时前就吃完的。现在还吃!" wj reprimanded me.
"我等以下切扁他们,他们就会记得是那个肥肥、刚才吃 roti prata 的切他们。"

9.00 [Sentosa Tanjong Beach]
More athletes at the beach! Almost felt like I shouldn't be there.. was so nervous I went to shit. Took my registration pack.. had my body marked.. and struggled to pin my race number onto my very un-pro running attire. Yes while the rest of the world had pro running singlets.. I had the orange sleeveless council jersey haha. Not that I don't have a proper running attire.. but they er.. (can't fit anymore).

9.29 [Still at Tanjong Beach..]
Waiting for flagoff.. all the pro runners were already stuggling at the waterfront ready to plunge in.. while wj, tat and I were at the back.. taking photos.. slacking away. Saw Zhengxi.. Julian.. Liqiang.. Chaoz.. which made me feel quite relaxed.. haha coz they were 玩玩而已 also... and...

9.30 [Flagoff!]
Supposed to flag off at 9.20 but well.. the crowd started jumping and hopping into the sea like easter bunnies on a hot plate.. I followed suit behind.. and started swimming...
.. and swimming......
.... and swimming.......
(it seemed like a neverending swim.....)
Lapped by many.. tried to avoid kicks by the breaststrokers.. saw a familiar body-marked number on the thigh in front of me.. it was Tat! Haha.. Swam together till the turn over point..
Boy when I got out of the sea I felt heavy like gravitational acceleration became 98.5 m/s2. Chaokenged and walked for a long distance into the sea (with Tat and Zhengxi) before starting to swim again..
Swimming was never my forte.. and didn't want to shack out before the run... so I kept on telling myself to relax... relaxx... as I pulled my strokes closer towards the shore... Though I never felt that I swam so fast before..the current really helped.. maybe it's the relataive motion of the waves also.. I felt like I was really gliding through the water on the return journey.

[21 mins later]
Out of the water.. chaoz came out with me.. didn't wanna run coz was feeling damn heavy and my feet couldn't lift off the ground.. went to the changing area but couldn't find my stuff! Took me a while before I regained my sanity and figured out where I left my stuff.. dillydallly put on my running attire.. popped a can of red-bull.. before I reluctantly proceede with my run.

Whoa lao the 1st few hundred metres of run was terrible la.. My feet were like chained to the ground.. no matter how hard i try to chase the guy in front of me (thought he really was quite slow) I couldnt' catch up with him... No matter what must complete the race.. so I'd just have to press on...

A new ray of light came to the running phase of the race when I caught up with Tat.. and so we ran together.. at least got someone to talk to. A few moments an uncle (the person who I was trying to catch earlier and which i did) ran beside us and said
"Gotta keep up with you youngsters. Otherwise I'd stop."
"Haha ok!"
"But I gotta make a dig at you guys.. I'm 53."
Haha.. whoa 30 years older! Turns out that he joins biathlon every year.. so it's quite an experienced runner. And he didn't join the full distance just coz the wave started late and it'll be too hot. so duh.
I'd totoally caught my momentum by the time we hit the turning point.. running at my usual pace already... together with the uncle we caught up with a few runners in front of us and spurred each other on to the finishing line. Gatorade.. wet sponge..simple pleasures under the torturous Sentosa sun.

[25 mins later]
"Chio! Chio! Quick! Quick! Finishing already!"
Can't figure out if it were weijie's jeff's or diana's voice.. but I made a dash for the finishing line. Haha whoa still could dash leh.. damn should have started sprinting earlier.. but wouldn't have made any diff la.. no prize anyway. So i ended in 44th place.. with a timing of 51mins+. And got the Biathlon t-shirt I registered for!

Though it was a disappointingly ugly t-shirt haha.

So all in all the virgin biathlon experience was rather enriching! At least I completed it in a somewhat respectable time (for me.. considering minimal training). Saw many familiar faces too.. Jiexin.. Peishan.. Christina.. CWC.. Songkun.. Weilong...... Thanks to Jeff for coming to support.. (and look after bag haha) and take photos.. We slacked around the beach for a while.. tan.. dry clothes.. look at babes.. (and dogs).. before we finally packed off for home.

Full distance the next time?
Haha need some guts to take it on man!

Chingay Heartland Performance @ Jurong

I was a clown and I made 2 kids cry.
Haha.. so ironic right? It was the 3rd of my Heartland performances.. I went for the 1st for the money.. of which it rained.. so I 不劳而获 haha.. the 2nd at Hougang/Kovan was for the money too but I was the magician then.. couldn't really fit into junsheng's black coat haha.. but the crowd was really 热情! And there were fireworks!! And the kids were really cute! Though they didn't really play with me the 'magician' (junsheng could have done a better job entertaining them with card tricks) and they all loved the clowns. So determined I was.. this time.. I was a..

Clown. But the Jurong crows wasn't as fun as the Hougang ones.. and there weren't fireworks.. but there was a mini-processions which was fun not because we had to act out but because of the other performers who were playing with us. Haha I played with the kids skipping rope.. hopped onto another float to take photos.. even jumped off (and fell off maluly) to give kids sweets.. haha but that's what clowns do ma.. malu themselves.

The funniest part of the day was that some lion dance ahbengs tried to hit on Pauline. bwahahaa.. they asked her for her phone number which she was to coyly shy to give.. This photo says it all:
purely candid shot. no poses.
*LOL*

Ok boss. Collect money time!

Valentines Day
1 year after my last year's ridiculously whiny post about v-day.. guess how I spent my 14th February?

I spent Valentines day with xy
(and gabe)
studying in the central library.

Haha super off rite?
Kudos to Chiwawa our CN2125 Heat and Mass Transfer Lecturer for putting a test the next day.

Block Events
13th Feb was the Block Steamboat dinner and I must say it was the BESTEST Block Event ever! Attendence was fantastic.. the atmosphere was there.. started on time.. ended on time and everyone had fun! And moreover it was cheap! Ooh I could almost smell the steamboat as I type this (or maybe it's because I'm hungry haha)

16th Feb's event with Block E didn't turn out as well. Zaihao was terribly disappointed too coz everyone disregarded (mostly out of ignorance) the significance of a Block Day and held their own practices.. meetings.. that day. Result: lousy attendence. It was also the 1st time i felt that ponding had an adverse effect.. as all the girls ran ahiding after being threatened to be ponded.. which made our attendence even more pathetic. but well.. Block E still had their own version of fun.. splashing water.. throwing hengfai into the dustbin.. blah blah blah..

And I must say there was a great amoutn of liveliness in the block when Level 6 and Level 7 started to war against each other.. THIS is what a block should be like! I really should stand up and give the level 7 girls my heartfelt standing ovation and applause for their retaliation... which even involved the seniors Faith Belle and Cindy. You've earned your stay in the block. I may close one eye now, but I vow out to flush out the individualistic, cliquish, self-centered residents who are degoratory to Block, if not Hall, culture.(you know who you are. Bye bye!)

Mid-Term Break
It's kinda fortunate to have 2 tests before the mid-term break... which came much much earlier than expected.. maybe it's coz I've lost concept of time w/o my Palm. This mid-term's going to be rather slack.. can focus more on catching up.. and clearing up unfinished webcasts/tutorials. That's what's a break's all about.

And my laptop better come back this week.. if not I'll hound the Fujitsu centres even if it means fucking them at the Japan side. My patience has reached its limits now. I WANT MY LAPTOP BACK!!!!

*growl*
Goodnight.

Chingay - A Parade of Dreams
Sunday, February 05, 2006

The Chingay experience was truly exhilirating! It isn't like Rag where the competition element far outweighed anything else. Everyone on parade just had fun, Fun and more FUN! The music was happening (speakers blasted from the float itself).. the drums from our neighbouring paraders heightened the energy level extensively.. the dancers were running around having fun.. kids waving at us like we're some celebrity.. and of course standing amidst the very beautiful MidwayFair Float enhanced with lights this time made entirely by Sheares Hall!

It was the 1st time in my life feeling like a celebrity.. with camera all around me..all because I had a tiger drawn on my face.. which attracted hunters from all over armed with cameras trying to poach a picture from me. I should just charge them haha. They wouldn't even spare me from eating my McChicken dinner in peace! Check them out:

Once you start posing...

They just come

And come...

And don't stop taking photos of you!!

Aha the feeling of stardom! Though it gets a little scary after a while when you realise that you lose your freedom and can't get out of the pose. And I wonder where all these people are from anyway.. I only notice a few with the 'Official Media' tags on them.. AND I DON'T SEE THE PHOTOS ON NEWSPAPERS ANYWHERE!

Of course the makeup that drew all the attention was done by the wonderfull YingEng!

Though I was stuck on top of the box with Junsheng while the rest of the dancers could prance around Orchard road and have fun with the crowd.. I captured some really cool shots of the top..

Too bad my camera lens was a bit misty so all the pictures seemed a little blur... aye.

But photo taking was the 2nd agenda for they day.. especially before and AFTER the procession.. we took photos with almost everyone and everything.. inclluding the other floats that waited with us at the end of the road.. blasting music from Elly's iPod and basically having loads of fun now that me and Junsheng are out of the box already,

The zoo float and dunno what float

We took so many photos not only by ourselves but by/with the many passers-by that stopped to take a shot. Many were foreigners and many more were our own Shearites! Haha.. it was great seeing familiar faces especially during the procession. Thanks all for coming down to support!

Escorted by many many policemen the float drove on to River Ang Pao to be parked there.. and now that I'm out of the box I feel so much more freedom!

EVERYONE that saw us waved their hands at us! From kids to couples to gangs of friends to families even people in the cars the drove past were waving to us like we were their long lost friends wheeeeee! Think halfway through we wanted to hit a target of 100 people waving back at us before reaching RiverAngPao and we DID achieve our target hahaaa... It really is a once-in-a-lifetime experience!

Yea and here we are at the River Ang Pao where the float was parked and many more people came to shake hands and take photos with us. The kids especially loved the 3 fairies who gave them their homemade (from aluminium foil) fairy dust to be thrown all over the floor. Was that licence to litter? Haha and before we left the Static people took a final photo with SuKiang our big boss and the lady who I think is the Co-ordinator on the Peoples' Association side...

The lorry was there waiting for us to go back but how can we just go back without touring the magnificent RiverAngPao?? Sukiang was really great for letting us walkwalk and so we did!

Oh and now that I've removed my outer coat and my hat and my gloves I think I scared a few kids and a lady with my tiger makeover haha.. Wella actually there's nothing much to see here and River Ang Pao.. except making a wish at the wishing well where I threw in all my coins and having cheap thrill with the rest of the crowd grabbing the gold foil splurted out by the giant Fortune God haha.

The greater fun was strolling along the street markets eating JUNK FOOD!

The day ended with us speeding back in the lorry driven by Ivan..

What a day! If you don't know by now all the photos in this entry are clickable and it will bring you to my fotopic site with many many many more photos of Chingay itself.. before and after.. But just like National Day Parade photos and videos are never enough to bring out the immense atmosphere of the procession. I reallyreallyreallyreallyreally wanna do Chingay again next year!!!

I hope my Chingay account did the day justice. It was another milestone clocked in my Sheares experience.. a day that'll be etched in my memory forever.. =)

Ah-Chooooo!
And I thought I escaped the bug.. it was just before CNY when everyone started getting themselves in the flu frenzy and I was healthily jumping around munching CNY goodies. Damn I had to get it from Junsheng 2 days ago. Thought I can recover in time for Chingay but I guess I didn't. This won't be a long post I'm going to get my recovery sleep soon.

Chingay Preview
I missed both Volleyball Guys and Volleyball Girls match for this.. But I must say it's well worth it! The atmosphere was exhilirating though it was only the preview. And even though I tore my pants while jumping up the float = restrictive movements and my bug still on me.. it was still enjoyable. The actual thing tomorrow will be even more fun! Just hope I don't tear my pants again.

And the makeup was quite lethal. When I took out my contact lenses they were GREEN! yucks. Soaking them now. They better turn correctly transparent by tomorrow.

Sheares Hall Volleyball Champs!
Yea it was a historic moment and I missed it! I would particularly want to watch the girls match because Cheryl, Xinhui and Weiling were playing for Eusoff as well. But oh well.. Glad that they won. Still sore that I couldn't watch the matches live.

And as Wendy's MSN nick put "3rd feb 2006, all shearites shld be proud of this day cos it truly shows the best of sports and culture!!"

Hard Disk
It wasn't damaged thank god! Managed to back-up some stuff which proved that it's still working fine. Going to back up more stuff on Monday.. just to be safe

Putting the $1200 out of my mind for the time being.

Fire Dogs
Wednesday, February 01, 2006

肖狗者丙戌年正冲太岁.. so I went to 拜太岁today.. not once but twice haha.. once before going to Angie's place and the 2nd time with Kaiyuan and Summer because they 犯太岁 as well. So by right should be not so unlucky now haha. But oh well.. hope this year goes by peacefully.

No luck No money No love No success. Sad year eh?

If you guys are feeling the heating up of this year's fire dog's visit then you should try putting a bowl of water on the west of your room. No fish. They will die. Haha amatuer geomancer at work.
But for most of you pigs.. this year is a super-fantastic year for you. Treasure it though. Next year your turn to 冲太岁!

CNY this year has been rather boring. Seeing the relatives who I only see once a year.. most of the cousins of my brother's batch have grown up now.. to pretty/handsome young things. The only kids I've seen this time round are of the fourth generation on my maternal side.. the nieces and nephews. I used to look forward to going to visit my maternal grandparents coz can play/talk with the cousins of my age.. but now it's not the case coz most of them are not there.. or come late.. or leave early. Why?
Go out with boyfriend/girlfriend.
Which leaves a total of 3 guys ( me, my brother and my cousin who is NS) in front of the goggle box from 3.30pm to 11pm while the auntiesyak-unclesmahjong-kidsrunaround-maidscookcleanandfillupgoodies.

So I'm back in hall now.. just finished CN2116 homework discussion (which is due tomorrow) and contemplating whether to go for tutorials tomorrow since I'll be missing Friday ones because of Chingay. I've missed last Friday's coz of CNY eveeve havocking back in Hwachong and going swimming with Weijie and Kaiyuan. Shouldn't be missing this Friday's.. but don't feel like going for tutorials totally unprepared leh.. would be wasting my time more..
So I'll make that tomorrow's problem.

Sitting on my bed looking at the shimmering lights of the PSA port outside my door has a rather thereuputic effect.. it's lonely up here in the 8th floor when the rest of the world are asleep already but far away right in front of me is actually bustling with activity. Light winds breezing through behind me as I strum (the same old songs though) feels kinds shiok.

I hope to hear good news from the laptop guy tomorrow. Figured out that since I'm going to pay $1152+ for it I might as well demand an upgrade from him. hurhur.

Back to homework. (at 3am yah so sad.)
