I'm very happy!!

Block D Concert was a success! Not a roaring success type of success but it was entertaining.. fun.. attendence was reasonably good (though more seniors could have come back) but the point was I enjoyed myself! I enjoyed seeing everyone in my block so happy during the concert! Well if you are a deeBlocker and you missed it.. TOO BAD FOR YOU! Haha..

I love my Block Comm! Now that they are full-fledged Block Comm members (no other hall commitments) they are SUPERB!! I feel like I can step down now and they can run the whole show by themselves! Ah.. so relieved..

I got a test tomorrow at 9am.. boo haven't really study finish yet.. going to study till 3am.. so much for adjusting my bio clock back the past few days (oh I never mentioned that I woke up at 5am the past 2 days to study.. not to mentioned I ran 2.4km with Sukiang at 6am on Thurs.. haha)

Ok. Cherish this rare happy blog entry!

Thought that this would be a blogworthy moment..

And yes.. i've been under the turmoil of constipation for the past 4 days.. every time I went to toilet it was that few splats and splurts if not strands of poo that always ended in the feeling of my anus being clogged up by this giant rock-of-a-shit.

Self-remedies included 2 contact laxatives (which worked only a little) and 2 papayas. One of which was hung outside my door on Saturday night with the note stuck on the fruit:

THIS IS A PAPAYA

YOU EAT THE PAPAYA

Wonder who it was though.. haha.

So the no-urge-to-shit feeling this morning after a night of gourging papaya I decided to consult the doc at YIH..
And she told me that I probably had passed out everything already.. after pressing my tummy a few times.. thus resulting in 'constipation'.

Hmm.. though I thought the splurts and splats and strands of shit didn't really account for the millions of chicken wings I ate on Shaowen's bday.. the buffet lunch I had on Sunday (yes my crazy father brought me to eat Japanese buffet knowing I had constipation) and of course, the papayas.

So 6 hours after the oral laxatives given by the YIH doctor was given.. my tummy came arumbling and churning and I had prisoners screaming to get out of my rectum.

The run down HSS library to the business toilet was so exciting. I felt like I was going to see my wife giving birth.

And yeaaaaaaaaaaahhhh.. the smell of papayaed shit tumbling down the toilet bowl. Yum Yum!

The sun shines again.

Something's wrong with me today
Thursday, March 23, 2006

It's one of those days where I wake up knowing that this day will be totally screwed up..

Planned to wake up early, skip lecture to study for HMT test.. woke up late.. missed breakfast.. ate 3 egg (whites) for breakfast.. not even cooked properly.

Had viva for lab.. (i.e. the lecturer asked us questions while we were doing our lab.. and it's graded.. he doesn't always do that.. just that he decided to ask our group today.)

Studied minimally in HSS.

Came back to hall and decided to shit before JCRC rally. Felt totally weak after that. As in.. I felt that I was going to faint on the spot.

Weak.. but I couldn't fall asleep..
Feverish.. but I wasn't running a temperature..
Bitten by mosquitoes in my room (first time after so long)..
Stomachache.. no shit..

Now just waiting for 7am so I can dabao breakfast before sleeping.

Anyway I got a scary email from Leeds..

In order to process your application, I would be grateful if you could give me some additional information regarding your high
school studies.
Would it be possible for you to list the subjects you studied at both Advanced and Higher Level together with the grades achieved?

Shit man.. my NUS grades too lousy ah?

It really sucks if I ultimately don't get to go.. as in.. I was so looking forward to it. And all my friends will be overseas enjoying themselves. Those who are left behind are either working or attached anyway.

Hai.. pray for the best ba.

A blog in the wee hours
Tuesday, March 21, 2006

I shall attempt to complete this blog in less than 10 minutes..

Mugging Month
5.15am.. and I just returned from Sheares Library.. all ready to sleep.. and wake up again in 2 hours time for breakfast.. then try to do my tutorials for later.. Yes.. 1 more month to the exams.. and it's time to mug again. Lotsa to stuff to mug like last sem.. but it's kinda better coz most modules have Mid-terms interspersed so I was like forced to study a bit of everything throughout the year.. not like last year where I totally didn't know what the hell was happening for some subjects.

Contemplating not going home this weekend to officiate the Mugging Month.

Last burst of fire before leaving for exchange (I hope)

Debut Emceeing
Thanks to Shyuan for the offer.. I was invited to emcee in a somewhat public event at Nanyang Community Centre for a Children's Chinese Dance Performance.. Though I didn't think I did it very well (for a 1st timer).. It was a thrilling learning experience.. from my partner who is more experienced (though she's the same year as me in SMU) and has great vocal skills.

"So you want to run through a script or something?" I asked.

"No need la. Impromptu lor. Very relaxed one."

Whoa I was stunned for a while. Impromptu shouldn't be a problem for me.. but the problem was I had to emcee in CHINESE!! Though we agreen on she doing the Chinese parts while I handled the English portions.. in the end both of us hosted the whole show in Chinese all the way coz I found it weird to answer her in English whenever she asked me in Chinese.
(I did it with Shyuan for CNY Dinner but that was all SCRIPTED)

At the end of the day there was this CC member who holds Effective Emceeing courses at NACLI that came up to us and offered us some pointers.. proved immensely useful. And I guess certain stuff like partner rapport, stage control and articulation are stuff I have to take note more of next time (if i get the chance).

Well.. at least I got my profile started.

Stunner
The latest stunner in Hall is none other than
"DND is good for matchmaking. Celestial was all about Kenny and jy."

I thought is was another Kenny-Yiyu related joke until it was confirmed by the rest of the world during dinner just now. Even the DnD members didn't know about that.. Really a shocker there haha!!

Think it was so much a shocker Kenny himself couldn't answer some of our questions.. only with "like that lor" as the most common answer to all our questions. And hoi! You haven't told us what's your finishing move/line?? Haha.

But still.. it was kinda sweet feeling seeing stupid ol' Kenny dapaoing fries and nuggets in a red plastic bag and smiling away as he walked away (to we all know where now). Was telling Weijie that at the end of all the shock I really feel happy for him.

And so the moral of the story is..
Every dog will have it's day.

I got my laptop back!!!
Thursday, March 16, 2006

Though I am $1214.85 poorer...

I no longer have to squint at the small laptop screen again!
I can lie on my bed and watch TV on the ultra big screen!
The TV window no longer takes up 1/4 of my screen when I want to do work!
My fat fingers no longer have to cramm up on the small keyboard again!

I no longer have to interchange between my external hard disk and printer because of lack of USB ports!
I can change my desktop wallpaper to whatever I want!
I can install whatever I want!
I no longer have to check my NUS mail using Internet Explorer!
I no longer have to log into wireless using the stupid ezaccess webpage!
I can organise my My Documents folder!
I can upload pictures into my blog!
I have Bloglines notifier!
I can send nice formatted mails!
I can use my many many emoticons when I chat!
It's good to have Stuffplug back in action... It's good to see who are opening conversations with you and who has closed their conversations with you!
I no longer have many many wires around my laptop!

I LOVE MY FUJITSU E8010!!!!
*MUACKZ!!!*

The calm in the middle of the storm....
Monday, March 13, 2006

I should be deemed the worst student in NUS.. I skipped the whole of last week's lessons (except lab which I cannot zao) for.. guess what..? Hall activities.

Sheares Bazaar was quite a joke actually.. setting up at Science meant literally no business at all.. not like it was really anyone's fault for the lousy location.. that is if I buy the story that NUSSU released the passwords late and blah blah blah (but shouldn't that happen every year?) And of course OSA's determination to wreck havoc on our bazaar by not allowing external vendors... food.. blah blah diminished our chances of drawing the crowd...

Sold Asics stuff like last year.. though only sold 4 pairs of shoes.. but plus a lot of linglinglonglong other stuff we (block comm) managed to earn about 90+ bucks.. which isn't too bad la =)

So that went my 1st three days of the week.. haggling with potential customers at the bazaar stall.. slacking away just waiting for customers (and flies) to come by.. calling my supplier for more stock coz there just weren't enough variety to attract the real serious shoe buyers.. Not much loss in my academic world i say.. coz my early week is usually quite free...

The 2nd half of the week was when I fulfilled my duty as an ERC member.. must admit haven't been a good one.. but Open House really did take its toll.. painting (and designing) humongous banners on thursday.. blowing millions of balloons on Friday.. and decorating the hall almost like a mini-Chingay as well as transforming the MPSH booth into a lounge... Turned nocturnal for those 2 days...

But somehow efforts did not seem to pay off.. crowd patronizing the stall was minimal.. even lesser people came down to hall (so much for the rara decorations).. It wasn't like last year when there was actually a crowd and I would enthusiastically approach people to join SECC.. not only was there a much dwindled crowd this year it's also kinda strange asking people to join the hall coz most of the time they don't really know what a hall is in the 1st place..

I would have gathered that if the Comm Chair weren't Mark and Yiling I wouldn't be so siao-on about open house.. but that again I witnessed both the dark and bright sides of human nature.. while people chao-kenged and didn't turn up to help while the rest slogged through the night.. or even smoked out with brilliant excuses.. there were those who came to help out of pure goodwill and friendship.. like Jeannie, Yiling, Zibin, Shyuan, Adrian, Darius blah blah blah... A small helping hand.. a great shoulder of comfort.

Now is the brief calm in the middle of the storm.. the impending assignments ready to be handed in.. lessons to catch up.. part 2 of mid-term tests.. I'm reduced to hiding in the depths of HSS library in a little cubicle trying to catch up on 12 hours of webcasts which I sorely missed coz I was trying to focus on other subject's tests.. This week is catching up week.. for next week when I get back my laptop it'll be time to figure out what Matlab is all about.. and of course.. compose my Science of Music midi..

which is essentially going to be the MafBrothers Song (I composed it 4 years ago haha.. remodified and added some impressive stuff)

And yes talking about my laptop.. I marched into the Fujitsu centre on Friday demanding an explanation why it's taking so long to send the bloody spare parts over to be repaired. I threatened to complain to the head office coz somewhere along the fucking line someone is probably slacking away and threw the order form away or something. While the person there claimed it is not his fault I still demanded a number to call so that whoever is causing the delay gets screwed big time.

And later that day I got a call saying that my laptop will be ready next (which means the coming) wednesday. Assholes. The world doesn't turn if no one gets fucked. Though they told me there's 1 more part which I'm going to pay for.. which brings the repair cost to $1266.. I didn't have the energy to argue with them coz I was half asleep (kudos to painting openhouse banner the day before). Rest assured I'll call them later to defend my pockets.

HSS is endearing.. great for loners. I must say I'm quite enjoying the lonely feel now. To live in my own solitary world and not be bogged down by useless commitments or irritating girls.Yes, girls are irritating. What took me so long to see it from Quek's view?

Thanks to Yiyang for the 1.89 litres of lime juice. Hello, Prof Chiwawa.. I'm here to attend your lecturesssssss finally.
