"You're really looking forward to tonight, aren't you? Well, you have every right -- especially since the morning and afternoon look like they'll be quite busy. Do what you have to do to take care of your responsibilities to others, then be sure to save some energy to take care of your responsibility to yourself. You know what they say about all work and no play? It's all true. "

Not that i'm ban-tan (superstitious) or something but sometimes i marvel at how uncannily true this horoscope is.. So when I woke up my brother started hounding me with millions of maths questions from his homework... but of course.. the event "tonight" that I'm really really looking forward to was....

ELECO CAMPFIRE!
27th Students' Council was the best thing that ever happened to my life. Who would have thought that.. after so many years.. after so many of us went overseas.. after all of us have entered university.. with the impending examinations in less than a week.. we, the most senior council around, still had the best attendence! (not counting 30th of course.. they just graduated so damn free)

Though the programme was largely the same (as in the past 5 years) with the exception of the new kinky tape-a-guy-to-the-table-vertically game, it was the company that mattered most I guess.. reliving the once-17 feeling again (I'm 22 already by the way.. the oldest would be Jeffry at 23).. singsong.. cheer.. dance.. makeafoolofourselves....

But the weariness of growing up could still be felt.. the inertia to hit the dance floor was greater.. even for the MafBrothers (maybe coz of the lack of dance partners).. the spontaniaty to try wacky stuff was sluggish.. but twas just a matter of slow startup.. soon everyone couldn't resist the I Got My Eyes Set... On... You... when the music started...

I danced with a 31st... toad and I 'broke up' a pair of 2 gal dance partners (their batch had more girls than guys) and joined them.. and only to realise halfway that I had danced with her exactly during last year's ELECO Campfire.. (she was still an elect then).. Wanted to tell her there and then but stopped coz it was kinda wierd.. she might not even remember.. haa

Well well.. so er.. yeap.. I've heeded my horoscope's advice to have a smashing good time.. ch..ch..ch..ch..che..chec..check it out!

Can't believe this bloke will enter Mr. Singapore competition hahaaa Posted by Hello

Haa.. ok wat a cockster.. ask me help him advertise for him.. so er.. go to the website and vote for him.. haa dunno wat you will get in return though.

Yah for you girls out there.. he's still unattached.

I wonder wat rubbish he will say during the QnA at the competition hahaaa...

Quek Interviewed!
Received a few SMSes this morning...
Dyan: Hey! go read sunday times. e article bout e racist scholar! guess who got interviewed! =p
Chye: Yo go read sunday times and see if you can spot quek's quote of e day

I was already on the car to school when i turned on the phone to check the SMSes..

Me: Did we happen to bring Sunday Times out?
Mum: Sunday Times? No, why?
Me: My friend got interviewed.
Mum: Interviewed for what?
Me: Not sure. Some racist thing I guess.
Dad: So that is your friend ah? It's quite a bad report you know. Got his full photo and everything.

Whoa so when I reached hall I msged toad immediately to buy Sunday Times when he 'books in'.

And the moment toad came in with the loot I rushed to his room to read the article.. only to find the article on Chengzhan instead.. and our dear Quek only had a grand total of
ONE LINE.

So much for the anticipation. Haha.. though i'm glad the person under fire is not Quek himself... which brings me to..

Chengzhan's Blog...
So the newspaper article was almost a full page article with Chengzhan's photo (albeit a grainy loserish photo which doesn't show his face properly) splashed across the page. And this was like the 2nd sensational news report that draws it's source from blogs. The previous one was Cuiwen's.. at that time I already felt it was stupid reporting that the article always referred to her blog for quotes.. and now they are firing CZ for comments made in his own personal space on the web.. furthermore it was web protected.

Correction: his own personal space? Weblogs are not personal I know.. but isn't there the established rule out there that
1. If you're not invited, don't read.
2. If you are reading, it's only courtesy to let the author know.
3. If you don't like what you are reading, get lost.
...?

How can anyone be fired for what he posts on the web using another pseudo-name? (ok although the URL has his name staring blatently at the reader)

How can the newspaper report what is written on weblogs as the 'truth'. I mean I can set up a blogspot account called abunehneh.blogspot.com give myself a pseudoname like irrilaopokxitudinalselfishsissyfart and call myself Lee Xin (ahem.. any coincidence purely non-intentional.. haha) and start raving all sorts of wild remarks myself wat.. and have people shooting this website down like that?

Whoever blew this matter up ought to be condemned to..
Anyway I think i chanced upon her blog.. (I forgot how.. googled or something) and I think she's a lawyer-to-be.

Was supposed to be reading my Sociology readings (on religion.. how apt.. the next chapter would be on ethnicity...) but I ended up spending an hour+ on the SPUG forums (where it all originated) reading the whole 30 pages of posts instead.. scary how something probably meant as a joke (like all TCHS people like to crack jokes like these) can get so out-of-hand. Though I was surprised that towards the end I spotted some familiar nicks posting to defend cz.

Do you really know a person just by reading his blog?

So a few points about blogs
1. Don't be naive and put your name all over your blog. You never know when you may become (in)famous. e.g. Cuiwen.
2. The blog is not your personal space. There are assholes out there (i'm referring to you if I don't know you personally or I didn't tell you personally my blog address) who are just kaypoh and ready to bite you in your butt coz they dun really know what happen in your real life.
3. So be nice and friendly and politically and diplomatically correct and put on the I'm-an-angel-sent-from-heaven attitude when blogging (like you don't already do so in real life).

Someone should give us blogging freedom-of-speech. If not it's back to pen and paper in locked diarys under our pillows.

So much for everything i have to write.. back to my sociology readings.. if not sleep (it's almost 5am)... And I think for once I'll have to give my horoscope's advice for tomorrow a miss:

Here's another day that's been specially designed for fun. Okay, so you've got a lot to accomplish, work- or project-wise. So what? You only go around once, and you never, ever take days off. It's time.

I think it's trying to make me fail my exams. Haha..

~Goodnight.
